Once satisfied to enjoy the beauty of Mount Bromo at sunrise, we agreed to ride motorcycles to the crater of Bromo, savannah and whisper sand.
With 9 motorcycles we go hand in hand through the fog which suddenly descends into the crater of Bromo. With the misty atmosphere, we are escorted to the foot of the Bromo crater and they will wait until we come down later.
After getting off the motorcycle taxi, we walk through the mist above the sand. In the middle of the road the fog was gone but then appeared again. If you do not want to get too tired, can ride a horse from the motorcycle taxi to the bottom of the stairs, Bromo crater. After walking for a while, we come under the crater stairs Bromo. Take a break, take a breath. Hehehe…
Then proceed up the stairs (they said 250 stairs) but I did not count. hahaha …. After almost out of breath up the stairs, we finally reached the crater Bromo. After satisfied take photos around the crater, we go down again. time down, there are spots that I think is good for photos, so I, Imas and Nirma photographs first … hehe …
After we go down to the ojek parking lot and have been waited to continue to Savana and whisper sand. Had one of the ojek drivers there, so must be searched first. Prior to Savana, we stopped for a moment to the temple. But it should not go to be just tough from the outside in front of the entrance.
Arriving at Savana was offered by a motorcycle taxi driver, besides the hill it Ranupani … if want there added cost again. Hahaha … No thank you, Sir, there’s maybe another time … Ranupani is the first post going to climb Mount Semeru.
On the road heading to Mount Bromo, we find a clean, cheap and representative food stall for lunch. And the choice fell on a food stall on a wicker-walled bamboo street. After looking at the menu list and see the price is quite affordable (chicken fried ), I choose fried chicken + rice + ginger milk. # After the hot tea experience fitting Soto breakfast in front of Gubeng station earlier, for some reason I feel the tea here feels weird.
Friends also mostly choose the same menu. And it turns out, we have to wait long enough to eat. While waiting for the food to be ready, we chatted. About the taste of the tea here is strange (I, Jefri and Ninggrum agree on this), about the offer from Elly if I want to Ijen will be ready to deliver because of his house in Banyuwangi (Cool ….), and other chats that are not important. : D
Was also interested in the durian fruit who hang in the shop, but after asking the price is too expensive for me. The reason for the sellers because the durian harvest this time is not as much as it used to be expensive. Finally, not to buy durian.
After the food came and we immediately eat, we continue the journey to Mount Bromo. And in the car, I slept again.
Had a brief stop at the mosque for midday prayers and Asr, we finally arrived at Mount Bromo.
Hanung then contacts Adi who booked the inn, and it turns out that the lodging we ordered was not available, finally, we are placed in lodging with 2 room facilities and warm water. Our lodgings are hidden behind other lodgings, but I do not think it’s a problem, which is important is we can sleep & not to be cold. hehehe …
Upon entering the inn, everyone took off their shoes/sandals and wow it’s very cold. So I immediately wear socks. ha ha ha…
And there is one more bad news, Adi said Hanung did not say anything about the lease jeep, so we do not get a jeep when all jeeps have been booked. What do we go to Pananjakan? Adi said it will be sought after, and the worst possible for example can not, we can see the sunrise in the view post approximately 10 minutes walk from the inn. Well, we just surrender, while waiting for news from Adi, we clean, bathe, walking around the inn while looking for dinner.
When our walks into a shop, there are buying shirts for souvenirs, scarves & creatures who have written Bromo and hand shirt to warm the body.
After the shopping, we had a short walk, but because it was dark and felt there was nothing to see, we decided to look for dinner only. And the choice fell in the shop near the shop where we were shopping earlier. The menu is quite complete, there is soto, rawon, rice rames, fried rice, chicken satay/goat. Because of the cold air like this, I think it’s good to eat hot. Finally I got soto + hot tea. And it turns out it does not look good….. But because hungry, then slowly still I eat it …: p
Elly who order rawon also complained, the taste of rawon is strange … Really not tasteful dinner.
After struggling to finish our dinner, we return to the inn.
Before we sleep the meeting first (hahaha….) to calculate the sharing cost we should spend. After that, the inn Rp.600.000,- + rent Elf 2 days x Rp.800.000,- = Rp.1.600.000,- + eat + rent jeep Rp.800.000,- (if any), finally per person pay Rp. 363.000, -.
After the money collected, time to rest because tomorrow must wake up at 4 am to clay sunrise.
At 4 am, everyone is awake and can hear from Adi if we didn’t get a jeep, then we decided the way to the lodging point of view near the inn.
I already wearing t-shirts, sweater, jumper, legging and batik pants but still feel cold. Finally, add one more cargo pants. hahaha …. (know not have reserves of fat for heating: p)
When exiting the inn there is no one has a single carrying a flashlight, so we come out dark and finally just use the hp flashlights.
When walking towards the viewing post, we see the jeep line to Mount Bromo, wuih … really crowded. After paying the tickets, we go to Mount Bromo tourist area. We are all confused about where to go towards the view post because no one knows. Finally after asked the person and shown the direction we headed there. Dark only armed with our hp flashlight walk towards the viewing post.
And after arriving is still dark so the landscape is not yet visible. Friends had prayed dawn first here.
And after a day of light, look beautiful scenery …. 🙂
Heard there was a friend who planned to Bromo & Madakaripura waterfall, I immediately said to join them. It’s been a long time I want to go to Bromo & Madakaripura waterfall but friends and time are not right yet.
A week before departure, I was worried whether the trip would be done or not, why there was no news at all. Even 4 days before the trip, I got sick. But fortunately, the body can compromise and be healthy … 🙂
The day before departure I was given news was got a ticket Gayabaru Train for the date 22 des’2012 hours 21.40. And direct meeting point at Lempuyangan station on Saturday 22 Dec’12 at 20:30.
On Saturday I still working, go straight packing, say goodbye to parents (thank you, father and mother, just 1 message; ‘be careful’ :)) and slid to Lempuyangan station.
20:45 to Lempuyangan station and leave the motor (stay 2 days) and do not see familiar faces. Because in this trip, just know 1 person friend, and others will meet at this station.
After a long wait, a familiar face appeared, Hanung, who immediately introduced me to his friends: Ningrum and Jeffri from Jogja: Metty, Aryani, and Imas from Jakarta. And apparently still waiting for one more friend from Jogja.
The train departure time is close, but one friend has not arrived yet and can hear if the bike broke down. Still hoping with anxious, a friend got to the station.
Finally, until the train departs, one friend has not departed and was forced to be left behind.
Finally we six went to Surabaya, and I chose to sleep on the train 🙂 and arrived at Gubeng station around the 3rd hour.
While waiting for 2 friends from Surabaya who want to join and also waiting for a new chartered car picked up at 8, we sleep on the station. Time to give news of friends from BPI Surabaya if we at the station Gubeng they come to us and had time to chat then farewell: )
After 2 friends from Surabaya came, Elly & Nirma, so a total of 9 people, we seek breakfast first in front of the station. And I choose breakfast chicken soup and hot tea.
Since the chartered car is still long coming around 8 am, after breakfast, we take a walk to the back of Gubeng station which is the statue of Landmark of Surabaya City; Statues of Sura and Buaya. And there’s also a submarine museum, but because it’s still closed, we just photograph in front of it …. 🙂
Once satisfied take pictures, we go back to Gubeng station to wait for a chartered car, skipping the chance to find tickets back to Jakarta for Metty et al, and the ticket was out.
After the chartered car comes, then the first day trip to the Madakaripura waterfall begins …. 🙂
Madakaripura waterfall is located in Probolinggo, about 4 hours drive from Surabaya. After approximately 4 hours trip, finally reached Madakaripura waterfall. Cheap ticket, but unfortunately, if we do not ask for tickets, they will not be given. While still in the car also offered a guide for the group. We already said do not want to use a guide, but they still follow behind, make uncomfortable.
And apparently, the road to the waterfall was badly damaged, had to cross the river many times and up and down the cliff. While the sky above looks overcast, so have been warned not to stay long in the waterfall. Go to the main waterfall, must pass through a small waterfall that will wet us. So be very careful with the photos, afraid the camera will get wet.
The water is brown, no one dares to approach the main waterfall. Due to weather and circumstances that do not support, we finally decided not to continue the journey to the waterfall. Too bad we can not see the beauty of Madakaripura waterfall. 🙁
After cleaning and changing clothes, we go to the next destination of Bromo.
Get off from Cetho temple, we stop by Kemuning tea plantation just take pictures. Tea plantation area is just on the roadside towards the Parang Ijo waterfall & Sukuh temple. So unfortunately if you do not stop by.
After taking some photos, we continue the journey to the Parang Ijo waterfall, approximately 20 minutes from Cetho temple. After parking the motor, we walk towards the waterfall that is not too far away. This waterfall is not too big with a height of about 60m. Although the waterfall is not too big the scenery is quite beautiful supported by the cool air, suitable for family recreation.
Here we also just briefly, just take pictures.
Then we forward the next destination is Sukuh temple. Sukuh Temple is a relic of Majapahit kingdom and was built around the 15th century. The types of this temple are the building of a temple terraces similar to the Mayan temple in Mexico.
Once satisfied around & take pictures in the temple area, we continue the journey to the next destination.
The next destination is our last destination in Karanganyar namely Jumog waterfall. Toward the waterfall of Jumog, we walk through the river with clear water, very pleasant. On the edge of the river, many food vendors especially sate rabbit. Actually, we are hungry again, but we decide to play water in the waterfall first. Jumog waterfalls are quite beautiful with clear water.
But because the time is getting late, we decided just to take pictures and then directly message satay rabbit in a warung near the waterfall. Yeah, we eat rabbit satay again. Hehehe…While waiting for food to be served, we both play water in the river near where we eat. After the food came, because of the cold and the hungry stomach. We really enjoyed the rabbit satay and hot tea served.
After a short meal and rest, we decide to go home soon as the day is getting late. Approximately 1-hour drive we arrived in front of Purwosari station, make a deal with Ridho to return the bike. Do not forget we filled the tank full of gasoline. :)When returning the motor, we say goodbye and say a big thank you for the motorcycle loan. Then we buy 2 Prameks train tickets to go back to Jogja.Until the monument station, take the motor, take Nuning and finally go home. Time for a break. A very enjoyable day adventure 🙂
Solo City is located in Central Java Province, Indonesia. From Jakarta or Bali can be reached for one hour through air travel. From Kuala Lumpur for two hours and from Singapore for one and a half hours.
Karanganyar is one of the regencies in Central Java Province. About 1 hour from Solo and 3 hours drive from Jogja my hometown.
The famous tourist attraction in Karanganyar is Tawangmangu with Grojogansewu waterfall. Supported by the cool air because it is located at the foot of Lawu mountain and beautiful natural scenery. But besides Grojogansewu, there are many waterfalls and temples there.
That’s why I and my friend Nuning want to go out there.
Without any plans, on Sunday morning, we leave for a motorbike to Tugu station and directly buy 2 Pramex train tickets.
After traveling for 1 hour finally arrived at Solo Purwosari station. After getting off the train I immediately contacted my friend Ridho to borrow the motor. Not until 30 minutes, Ridho has come bringing motorcycle and 2 helmets for me & Nuning. After that, me and Nuning directly to Karanganyar, although not sure the place, just armed with a map & the spirit of adventure 🙂
Without significant difficulties, as many guides to Tawangmangu and a smooth road.
Just a bit uphill after arriving at the foot of Mount Lawu. Our first goal is Cetho temple. Towards this Cetho temple, we pass a fairly steep road so be very careful to ride a motorcycle. Like the mountain area in general, along the way we are treated to the beautiful natural scenery.
Before arriving at Cetho temple, we have to go through a very steep uphill path. Because I was scared, then Nuning I ordered to get off the motorcycle and on foot. While I keep riding the motor zig-zag. After passing the steep incline finally arrived at the gate of Cetho temple.
After buying a ticket, we go to the temple and take a walk to enjoy the scenery around the temple.
According to historical records, Cetho temple was built in the 15th century during the Majapahit kingdom. What stands out from this temple is the existence of a stone structure that forms a giant tortoise that supposedly as a symbol of Majapahit. In front of the turtle’s head, there is a symbol of the phallus (male genitals) along the 2 meters is equipped with piercing type (amp; piercing) type ampallang. Turtles are symbols of the creation of the universe while the penis is a symbol of human creation.
Once satisfied around in Cetho temple, we are interested in the signpost that read Kethek temple. out of curiosity, we follow the directions to the Kethek temple. Past the path that is beside the Cetho temple, past the edge of the cliff, finally, we arrived at Kethek Temple. Kethek temple is a staircase pyramid and has similarities with the main building of Cetho temple. Shortly up at the temple Khetek, fog down quite thick. Got climbed to the top of the temple, at the top there is a place of worship of Hindus. So the building of this temple is still used by Hindus to perform religious rituals.
Because the fog is getting thicker and drizzle starts to fall, we do not linger here. We go back to Cetho temple all past Puri Saraswati and sendang(springs) that is around the temple.Fortunately, when we got to the Cetho temple the drizzle subsided and because we were hungry, we ate the rabbit satay at the warung near the entrance gate of Cetho temple. When finished we continue the trip to the next destination 🙂
